Make your own decision.

Do not ask a lender to tell you how much you can afford.

Qualification does not equal affordable. A lender will tell you how much money you qualify to borrow. Remember, this is not the same as what you can afford. The lender tells you only how much they are willing to risk. But you must decide how much you can afford. This will be based on other facters, e.g.:

Your other financial goals.
Your plans for the size of your family.
Your level of insurance protection.
Your career opportunities and choices.
…etc.
